Guru Mainnet Temporary Shutdown Announcement
All user balances from Guru Mainnet are being securely migrated, so there is no risk of losing your assets during this transition period. You can continue to use the testnet as before with no interruptions.

Important Update: Guru Mainnet Operations
We are announcing the temporary shutdown of the Guru Mainnet due to the recent deprecation of Custom Gas Tokens by the Optimism team and Base politics regarding Layer 3 (L3) chains. This factors directly impact our ability to operate Guru Mainnet in its current configuration, as future upgrades to the OP Stack will no longer support custom gas tokens and the relevant code has been removed from the official repositories.
Why Is This Happening?
Optimism has officially deprecated the Custom Gas Token feature, citing a steady decline in its usage since May 2024. The ecosystem is now moving towards more robust alternatives, such as Account Abstraction (ERC-4337) and paymaster services, which allow gas payments in any token. As a result, support and compatibility for Custom Gas Tokens have ended, and maintaining such functionality would require significant and risky modifications to the OP Stack.

The evolving political and governance landscape of Base, particularly regarding Layer 3 (L3) chains, has also influenced our decision to temporarily shut down Guru Mainnet. Base, incubated by Coinbase and built on the OP Stack, is actively shaping the future of the Superchain through its commitment to the "Law of Chains"—a framework that emphasizes neutrality, decentralized security, and robust governance standards for all participating protocols.
As Base and the broader Optimism ecosystem move toward stricter standards and more centralized oversight of L2 and L3 deployments, projects like Guru Network face increased uncertainty around long-term compatibility, governance participation, and operational autonomy.
This dynamic, combined with the technical deprecation of custom gas tokens, reinforces our decision to pause mainnet operations while we evaluate the best path forward for relaunching Guru Mainnet in alignment with the new rules and expectations set by the Base and Optimism communities.
What Does This Mean for Guru Network Users?
- Guru Mainnet will be temporarily stopped.
All mainnet operations are suspended until we relaunch with a fully compatible and upgraded configuration. - Guru Testnet remains fully operational.
You can continue to use the testnet as before with no interruptions. - Mainnet Relaunch:
We are working on relaunching Guru Mainnet in the near future, leveraging the latest Optimism standards and best practices for network stability and security.
All user balances from Guru Mainnet are being securely migrated, so there is no risk of losing your assets during this transition period. However, to provide extra transparency and peace of mind, we encourage everyone to use the "Transfer wallet" task available at https://dex.guru/tasks. This tool allows you to independently verify and, if needed, transfer your wallet balance to ensure everything is correctly accounted for.

A snapshot of all balances will be taken by June 30, 2025, but the balance transfer feature will remain available even after this date. This means you can always claim or move your assets based on the snapshot, ensuring full continuity and access to your funds regardless of when you initiate the transfer.
